Children's Art Classes in Leith
Our fun and supportive term-time art classes run throughout the week for children aged 8+ in a welcoming, creative environment led by passionate, qualified instructors. At our cosy Leith studio, we inspire young artists to explore drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, crafts, and digital art through new hands-on projects each week, while discovering art history and learning new techniques. With personalised attention and friendly guidance, children build confidence, creativity, and friendships in a community where every artistic spark is celebrated.
All materials, aprons, snacks, and drinks are included, and children take home their artwork every session. We also offer free on-site parking and free early drop‑off 20 minutes before class to make your experience as smooth as possible.

Each session lasts 1.5 hours, with the doors opening 20 minutes early to give children the option to settle in, relax and enjoy some drawing before class begins. Aprons are provided, and we encourage children to wear clothing they feel comfortable getting messy in.
Our classes are creative, fun and social, encouraging children to interpret each project in their own unique way. Every session focuses on a new project and introduces different materials. Occasionally, more complex projects may continue into the following week. There is a snack break halfway through each session, and we provide drinks and snacks. At the end of every class, children are welcome to take their unique creations home with them.
Please review our Behaviour Policy, which outlines our expectations for children attending classes and helps us keep every session safe, fun and welcoming.

Our age ranges are intended as a general guide. Occasionally, children may be welcomed into a class outside the stated age range if they are well suited to the group. This is considered on a case-by-case basis.
If you have a child under 8 who would like to join Creative Explorers and you feel they would be a good fit, we may be able to accommodate them subject to availability and suitability. If the class is busy, priority will be given to children aged 8 and over. Where available, we recommend booking a trial session first so we can see whether the class is a good fit for your child.
My son has been going to the Creative Explorers art class for a couple of years now and he loves it. Sally and team are lovely and have created an amazing space for the kids to have lots of creative fun. Thank you Sally!

KIND WORDS
Sally is an excellent teacher with kids. She is very patient and very good in cultivating each child's unique potential. The studio offers a very good learning environment with different kinds of materials for different ages of children. My daughter has learned and improved her drawing and painting skills, as well as how to apply different mediums in her art works. She has greatly enjoyed her art classes with Sally. Thank you very much Sally for giving her such a wonderful experience in learning about art!

My daughter has been attending Sally's class over the last year or so and looks forward to it each week. She loves the laid back atmosphere, quality materials and Sally's guidance. Her confidence in her artwork has developed immensely ❤️

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. Can't recommend Studio 48 highly enough. My twin girls (aged 10) have been going for several years now and I can't imagine them not going! Sally is very talented and really great with the kids. It's so nice for them to have something every week which is fun and interesting, where they are supported and challenged - you never get the impression that they are told what to do (or what not to do) but rather inspired and encouraged.
The studio space is lovely and is very well equipped with loads of top quality materials and supplies and the kids use whatever they feel inspired to. It is not a huge class so they get lots of attention (as well as drinks and biscuits) so it feels like great value. Most of all they learn something while having a great time with nice people and they come home happy every week clutching something amazing
