Two Easy But Fun Paper Plate Halloween Crafts
There are so many crafty options when it comes Halloween decorations. Here are a couple that use the simple but diverse paper plate so you can have fun and festive decorations this spooky season!
Paper Plate Spiders
These spooktacular spiders are so simple for kids to make and they can be done in any colour or combination of colours, so they can be as spooky or as fun as you want!
Supplies Needed
Small paper plates (2 per spider)
Paint (any colours)
Googly eyes (varying sizes, 8 per spider)
Pipe cleaners
Paint brush
Scissors
Stapler
Glue
Hole punch
String
Steps
Take two paper plates and paint the underside. Set aside to dry completely.
Once the paint has finished drying, cut four pipe cleaners in half to make eight spider legs.
Take your two painted paper plates and line them up like a sandwich so the painted part is on the outside on both sides. Place a staple on one end to connect them together and hold in place.
Insert a pipe cleaner in between the two plates about one inch deep then staple it down. Do this with all eight legs, with four on each side. Bend the pipe cleaners halfway to make them look more like spider legs. Place additional staples as needed around the plate to keep it closed and the legs inside.
Glue on eight wiggly eyes of different sizes on the top of your spider. You could also use self-adhesive googly eyes so you won’t have to wait for drying time.
To finish use a hole punch to punch a hole in the top of the paper plate and tie a string through it so you can hang it up as if it’s coming down a spider web!
Note: Instead of stapling the legs and plate, you can use tape or glue. Just make sure to tape or glue the legs onto the inside of the plate before putting them together.

Paper Plate Silhouettes
These Halloween silhouettes are an easy craft for all ages. The trickiest part is cutting out a template, so you should choose ones that are easier to cut.
Supplies Needed
White paper plates
Black construction paper
Paint (yellow and orange)
Paintbrush
Glue stick
Printable templates
Steps
Take a plate and paint one per silhouette wanted. Yellow works best, but you can experiment with others.
Swirl a slightly darker accompanying colour on top. In this case orange, and swirl it around with the brush a bit. Let dry.
Meanwhile print your choice of silhouettes from any template, such as cats or bats. There are many to be found online.
Cut out the shape, then trace it over the black construction paper, and cut those out.
Take your silhouette shape and glue it onto the dried plate.
Repeat for as many silhouettes as you want!
