Christmas is one of the most wonderful times of the year. And alongside wearing fuzzy jumpers, drinking hot chocolate, seeing the sparkly lights, and enjoying all the best food, there are all the amazing Christmas arts and crafts to be made!
Crafting is a fun and cozy activity that brings with it memories and traditions, so if you would like to spend some quality time and create holiday cheer, here are a few festive crafts ideas to make your home into a winter wonderland.
Yarn Wrapped Tree Decorations
This simple Christmas craft idea lets kids get creative with a variety of materials to create a set of colourful and sparkly ornaments for the Christmas tree.
Papier-mâché and/or wood ornaments
Mini pom poms, stickers, gemstones (optional)
Take your selected ornament and brush with paint. Add extra sparkles if desired and let dry completely.
Wrap around with yarn until the desired effect is reached. Use two different yarns for some extra colour. Secure the yarn at the back of the ornament with a dab of glue.
Finish by gluing on mini pom poms, adding little stickers, or little gemstones.
Hang your ornaments and enjoy!
Pop Pom Christmas Trees
These are cute little trees that can be hung on your actual tree! Use different coloured pom poms for variety if wanted.
Green Pom Poms
Cut out a triangle shape from the construction paper as large as you want your tree to be, around 3-4 inches tall. Glue it onto a stick.
Glue the pom poms onto the paper and let dry.
Cut out a star shape from the carboard and paint gold. Let dry completely.
Glue the star to the top of the tree.
Tie a ribbon around the finished ornament to hang and enjoy!
Paper Plate Santa
What could be more festive than Santa himself? With not much more than just a bit of glue, paper, and a plate, you can have your own little Santa.
Beige coloured acrylic paint
Red and white cardstock paper
2 large googly eyes
Red pom pom
Cut off the top third section off of your paper plate. Paint the inside circle of the paper plate with the paint and set it aside to dry.
Cut the red cardstock paper into a 6 inch triangle.
Cut the white cardstock paper into two 2-inch circles and cut one of those circles in half.
Cut a ¾ inch strip of white paper, for the brim.
Apply glue to the back of the dried plate and stick to the red triangle, about halfway up. Glue the white circle at the top of the triangle, and the white strip at the top of the plate.
Continue by gluing on the google eyes, and then the two semi circles for the moustache. Finally, glue the red pom pom in the middle to complete Santa’s nose.
